ABOUT ME

Putting My Experience
to Work

I am thankful to live in Rainbow City, Alabama where my husband and I raised our two children. I have been married to Dr. Maury Minton for 35 years. Maury served as a United States Marine and is now a medical doctor. During his training for the USMC at Parris Island, I was living in Birmingham and had to defend myself against a home intruder. Due partly to that experience, I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment and the “right to bear arms”.

While working at UAB, I completed my master’s degree at night and ultimately retired from pharmaceutical sales with Bristol-Myers Squibb. While raising our two children, my husband returned to UAB School of Medicine at age 35. During this time, I took a break from traveling with pharmaceuticals and was given the privilege to support teachers and faculty within the Gadsden City School System where my children attended Eura Brown Elementary School. Much of my time was spent assisting children learning to read, which continues to be a passion of mine. I attribute our daughter Dr. Laura Minton Garton becoming a medical doctor at Mayo Hospital and our son David Minton becoming a software engineer in large part to the teachers, librarians, and coaches who fostered a love of reading and a hard work ethic.

I believe my experience working and serving as (1) previous Secretary and now Vice Chair of the Etowah County Republican Party, (2) representative of congressional seat 7 of District 10 on the Alabama State Executive Republican Committee, (3) member of Etowah County Library Board, and (4) member of the Alabama Public Library Services (APLS) Board appointed by Governor Ivey have given me the experience and contacts to get things accomplished for District 10.

I am an active member of Meadowbrook Church in Gadsden and am guided by my Christian faith and the examples set forth by my parents Wayne and Betty Dozier. They have served in many churches across this area and in prison chaplain ministry and are currently serving with Celebrate Recovery, addiction and recovery programs. The Dozier family worked long hard hours for many generations in
farming and running a successful small business. The Minton family has a strong work ethic, from working at Rock Run Iron Ore in Cherokee County, to Standard Coosa Thatcher textile near Duggar Mountain in the Piedmont area, to years of hard work in the forestry industry.

My love and commitment to the veteran community is the result of many generations of my family’s unselfish and sacrificial military service to our country, including Delta Force, Army, Navy, Air Force, and US Marine Reserve units. Freedom isn’t free, and I understand that the war doesn’t end when you return from the battlefield.

Based on these life experiences, I am asking for the opportunity to be your Alabama District 10 Senator. Please donate, share and vote Amy Minton for Senate District 10.

Senate Priorities

1

I would stand firmly for small business, farmers, private property owners and every
citizen from being over regulated, over taxed and controlled by governmental
overreach.

3

I would fund and assist parents, teachers and schools especially as it affects our
district reading scores improving ultimately to the top in the state.

5

I will support our first responders and volunteer emergency services.

7

As a spouse of a former United States Marine (infantry), I will firmly stand for our
military, Veteran’s benefits and especially Veteran’s Mental Health benefits.

9

I would continue to advocate for all trade skill industry and opportunity for
graduating high school students. I would advocate for funding and continued growth
with our first class Gadsden State Community College.

2

I would work alongside our local Mayors, County Commissioners, City Council and
State Representatives to secure funding needed to repair our damaged roads,
infrastructure and bridges. And, I would make it a priority to build a new Southside
Bridge. I would continue to work diligently to bring in industry and good-paying
jobs for our local residents! I am an advocate for over communication and
transparency in all of these projects.

4

I would work hard to STOP the sale of Alabama land to foreign adversaries.
(According to USDA data from December 2023, Alabama has the fourth-highest
amount of foreign-owned land in the US, at 2.2 million acres. Much of it belonging
to China).

6

I will continue to lean on my personal home intruder experience and firmly stand for
the 2nd Amendment and ‘right to bear arms’.

8

I would strongly support our churches and faith based addiction recovery groups. I
have worked with ‘Celebrate Recovery’, Maximizing Mental Health and other faith
based groups to help bring healing and complete recovery. I have participated in
many fund raisers such as the Dragon Boat race with Habitat for Humanity, raising
funds to build houses for local residents.

10

I would continue to stand against Gender Ideology and indoctrination of our children.
